FAQs
We've collated a list of frequently asked questions from customers when purchasing their Shepherds Hut. If you cannot find the answer to your questions please do contact us and we'll be more than happy to help.
Does a Shepherd's Hut need planning permission?
The simple answer is no. The Shepherd's Hut itself doesn't need planning permission. However, it's what you are doing with the Shepherd's Hut that may do. You can find more information here.
Is the Shepherd's Hut warm inside?
At Wild Nomad, we use modern timber frame house techniques, insulated with ultra-efficient Sheep wool and underfloor & central heating, which provides plenty of heat to warm the Shepherd's Hut. Double glazed windows are used throughout to reduce heat loss.
Can Shepherd's Huts be moved?
Yes, our Shepherds Huts have a draw bar on the steering end allowing the Shepherds Hut to be moved by a small tractor or 4x4. This is a great benefit as Shepherds Hut provides an excellent alternative to fixed extensions, as you can easily move your Shepherds Hut if you decide to relocate.
How does the drainage work for my Shepherds Hut?
Our Shepherds Hut are fitted with a flushing toilet, standalone shower, bathroom sink and kitchen sink. These units can be either connected to the main drain or a septic tank system. You can speak to a ground works company who can advise on the best option for you. We would always recommend main drain if possible.
How do I connect my Shepherds Hut to electric?
You'll need to supply the Shepherds Hut with a 32amp supply to run all the electrics within the hut such as sockets, appliances, lights etc. This is the same connection as if you went camping and required an electrical hook up.
How long will it take for my Shepherds Hut to arrive?
We will state on our product page, before purchasing, when your Shepherds Hut will be delivered. We charge a flat £500 delivery fee to deliver your Shepherds Hut to anywhere in England & Wales. We currently do not deliver to Scotland.
Do I need to prepare the land before the Shepherds Hut arrives?
We recommend having your site clearly marked up before the Shepherds Hut arrives so you know exactly where the Shepherds Hut should be positioned for electricity, water and waste. Due to the weight of the Shepherds Hut we recommend a concrete base underneath the wheels, this can either be the whole base of the Shepherds Hut or 4 individual pads under each wheel. A Place In The Wild, will provide you with the exact dimensions in your welcome pack once you've reserved your Shepherds Hut.
